    Tanoto Foundation Fellowship Program 2025 Reopened, Ready to Develop Young Leaders for Education in Indonesia

    JAKARTA, April 7, 2025 – Have you just graduated and have big dreams to advance education in Indonesia? Do you want to learn directly from education experts while actively working to build a better educational ecosystem? This is your chance to join the Tanoto Foundation Fellowship Program Cohort 2025!

    Launched in 2024 by the Tanoto Foundation, an independent philanthropic organization in the field of education founded by Sukanto Tanoto and Tinah Bingei Tanoto in 1981, this program is designed to shape development actors who will contribute to the improvement of education quality in Indonesia.

    For one full year, selected participants, known as Tanoto Fellows, will be placed at one of Tanoto Foundation’s regional offices—located in Riau, North Sumatra, Central Java, and East Kalimantanto learn and contribute directly on the ground.

    In this program, Tanoto Fellows will not only gain transformative experiences but also enjoy other benefits, including:

    1. Leadership development support through project-based initiatives

    2. Learning, coaching, and mentoring opportunities from experts

    3. Competitive monthly allowance throughout the program and funding for social initiative development at the end of the program

    4. Access to the Tanoto Fellows Network—an alumni community focused on lifelong learning and sustainable collaboration in the education sector

    5. The opportunity to become a key collaborator with Tanoto Foundation to create broad and lasting impacts

    The eligibility criteria for the Tanoto Fellowship Program 2025 are as follows:

    • Indonesian citizen

    • Maximum age of 26 years

    • Graduates of bachelor’s (S1) or master’s (S2) degrees from various disciplines

    • Aspirations to contribute to strengthening education in Indonesia

    • Willingness to fully participate in the one-year program

    Here are the selection stages candidates will go through:

    2. Leadership potential assessment conducted online to map leadership potential and candidate profiles

    3. Case study and final interview, also conducted online, to assess alignment with the program’s aspirations and values

    Important dates for the Tanoto Foundation Fellowship Program Cohort 2025 registration:

    • April 7 – May 25, 2025: Online registration

    • May 29 – 30, 2025: Announcement of administrative selection results

    • June 4 – 12, 2025: Stage 1 selection

    • June 16 – 17, 2025: Announcement of Stage 1 selection results

    • June 19 – 23, 2025: Stage 2 selection

    • July 1 – 4, 2025: Announcement of Stage 2 selection results

    • August 18, 2025: Official start of Cohort 2025 program

    Introducing Tanoto Foundation Professor in Diabetes Research: Professor Yibin Wang

    Tanoto Foundation is committed to advancing healthcare and medical research, particularly in diseases prevalent in Singapore and the region. Since 2009 in partnership with SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre, the Tanoto Foundation Professorships in diabetes, medical oncology, and cardiovascular medicine were established to drive innovations in diagnosis, prevention, and treatment.

    Tanoto Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Yibin Wang as the new Tanoto Foundation Professor in Diabetes Research. Professor Wang is the Program Director for the Signature Research Program in Cardiovascular & Metabolic Disorders at Duke-NUS Medical School. His groundbreaking research has uncovered the genetic and molecular mechanisms behind diabetes, obesity, and heart failure. His work has already led to drug developments and clinical trials, offering hope for patients worldwide.

    As the Tanoto Foundation Professor in Diabetes Research, Professor Wang will continue to drive innovations in the understanding and treatment of diabetes. His research into amino acid metabolism and metabolic disorders holds the potential to revolutionize treatment approaches, providing life-changing solutions for millions living with diabetes.

    His approach to research, marked by deep curiosity and a commitment to challenging established paradigms, will play a key role in shaping the future of diabetes care. Known for embracing new technologies and methodologies, from molecular biology to multi-omics approaches, Professor Wang’s work will enhance the precision of his research and accelerate the development of novel therapies.

    Beyond research, Professor Wang is dedicated to mentoring the next generation of scientists and medical professionals. With extensive experience in academia, including overseeing large research programs and teaching at the graduate level, he is well-positioned to foster the development of young scientists who will continue to tackle critical healthcare challenges.
