About the Program

Key Beneficiaries

Early-career professionals (up to 26 years old)

The Tanoto Foundation Fellowship Program develops purpose and mission driven future leaders, equipping them to design and implement initiatives that create sustainable impact. It is a full-time, one-year program for fresh graduates and early-career professionals up to 26 years old. Tanoto Fellows are immersed in the education and social development ecosystem, placed within Tanoto Foundation’s partner areas to gain unparalleled hands-on experience.

Fellows embark on a structured, project-based journey—from field immersion and needs analysis to designing, implementing, and evaluating their own educational initiatives. Guided by expert mentorship and comprehensive leadership training, participants develop the critical skills needed to create sustainable, impactful change. The program culminates in preparing these future leaders to advance Indonesia’s education agenda as part of the lifelong Tanoto Fellows Network.

Key Programs Components

Structured Leadership Development

Structured Leadership Development

Fellows will participate in structured leadership training, interactive workshops, and guided independent learning to strengthen their leadership qualities, critical thinking, and data-driven problem-solving skills. These experiences are designed to cultivate a sustainable impact mindset and prepare them for future leadership roles in the social development sector.

Project-Based Experiential Learning

Project-Based Experiential Learning

Fellows will design and implement education- or social-focused initiatives that address gaps identified in the ecosystem, working in collaboration with local partners. While these projects primarily serve as a vehicle for their learning and development, Fellows also actively contribute to improving the quality and equity of education and community well-being in the areas they serve.

Evaluation and Reflection

Evaluation and Reflection

At the end of the program, Fellows will reflect on their experiences, evaluate the outcomes of their initiatives, and share key learnings with peers and stakeholders. This process fosters continuous growth and helps Fellows recognize their role in advancing Indonesia’s education and social development beyond the program.

Ecosystem Immersion

Ecosystem Immersion

Fellows will engage in field visits and direct engagements with stakeholders across the education and social development ecosystems, including schools, local communities, and government leaders. These hands-on experiences will broaden their perspectives and deepen their understanding of the challenges and opportunities within these sectors.

Coaching, Mentoring, and Networking

Coaching, Mentoring, and Networking

Fellows will actively manage their learning through coaching and mentoring from experienced leaders within Tanoto Foundation and external partners. This support, combined with networking opportunities with relevant experts and stakeholders, provides valuable insights and guidance to strengthen their professional development.
