1970s
Even prior to the formation of the Foundation, Mr Tanoto has been engaging in various philanthropic works through his company, RGM, which he started in 1975.
Founded in 2001 by Sukanto Tanoto and Tinah Bingei Tanoto, the Tanoto Foundation is a platform for their deep commitment to poverty alleviation. This is achieved through improving access to quality Education, Empowerment opportunities, and basic services that support Enhancement of people’s quality of lives. Tanoto Foundation aims to become a center of excellence in developing and piloting poverty reduction models, and sharing their successful programs and best practices with the wider society.
